    I always thought it was in the Jewish Bible that Adam named the animals. I guess I learned something new today.

    Which all goes to show that Adam was a totally boring guy, Eve probably had more interesting names that never got recorded, and scientists today get the benefit of intertextuality and terrible puns to make their mark.

    Why can’t genes have two names- one that a scientist gives it, and one official one? Then people can use whichever one they feel appropriate.

    Also, off-topic but as a kid (heck even now) being told I had a problem with my “sonic the hedgehog” gene would actually make me feel a bit better
